How the wall should be diagnosed before repair
During an inspection, the review should not be limited to the most obvious mark. The surrounding wall helps show whether the visible condition is isolated or part of a larger transition, moisture or bond problem.
- crack pattern, width and direction
- hollow or loose sounding material beyond the visible mark
- roof, window, door, utility and grade transitions
- prior patches, coatings and sealants that may hide the original condition
- access limits, landscaping and the clean stopping point for the repair
